This is a day picked up when you are 6 months and 24 days old. Every time I picked a day from my life after you were born, I was hoping that, next time when I write about my day, I might get to write that I wake up only 2 or 3 times at night. But now I wonder, will it ever improve? I can already imagine the future where you go to the nearest school and come home after every one hour's class for milk from your mom! Uffff!!! Praying that it should not happen.
We had gone to an Indian store yesterday and I used to feel proud every time a mom or a dad with a little baby asked me, how old are you and I said you are six months old and they say, "Oh! She is big, he is 8 months old and looks smaller!" pointing at their baby. But yesterday I actually felt so depressed. There was an old couple, they saw the continuously "talking" baby in my arms, asked for your age as usual. The conversation went on like this. "She is six month's old". "Oh! She is very cute and active, even we have a six month old grandchild". "Oh, that's nice, what's her name?" "She is Arya". "This is Aadya". I smile. "She looks healthy, how many times does she wake up at night?" "Every two hours still" I make a funny face. They look shocked and say, "Arya sleeps at 8 in the night and wakes up only at 6.30 in the morning. They let her play for half an hour and only then feed her. My son is very strict about this, she cried in the beginning and now she is not fussy at all, keeps smiling all the time". Had they decided to make me feel terrible??! Anyway, good for them! Let me take it in a positive way. May be this waking up every one hour is bonding us even better. To be frank, whenever you cry for me, though it is tiring not to have any time for myself, deep inside it somehow makes me proud and swell with joy! I feel that you are mine, my little cutie! Whatever others say and in spite of the trouble you give us, surprisingly it has only made your dad and me love you more day after day!
5.45 am : Aadya cries, I feed her.
6.15 am : She is still not letting me go. I forcefully keep her down and go to kitchen to keep rice in the cooker. She continues to cry till I come back and I see her dad trying to calm her down, it does not work. I pick her up and crying stops all of a sudden. She starts cooing. I hold her for a few minutes, then keep her down and lie next to her. Her dad is back to sleep on his bed. We are down on the floor on a comforter. Aadya kicks her dad's bed vigorously. Entire bed shakes, but it does no harm to his sleep. I doze off, but Aadya is tired of kicking the bed, now I am getting the kicks along with a few slaps and bites here and there. I change her diaper.
6.30 am : I change her diaper. Dad can not sleep anymore with the loud blabbers. He picks her up and now Aadya is sitting on her dad's chest, pulling his nose. I go to kitchen.
8.00 am : I am done with cooking breakfast and lunch. Aadya has reached the living room sometime ago and her dad is ready for office, he just has to have his breakfast. She is tired of playing alone though her dad had given her company here and there and I have kept talking to her from the kitchen. She is now screaming aloud for someone to pick her up and has started crying. I have been acting as though I can't hear her cries and have kept pep talking to her as usual since last 15 minutes. We can't be deaf anymore. I still got to pack Aravind's lunch and some fruits for him. So he picks her up, makes her sit on his lap and eats his breakfast. This has become a routine - Aravind eating breakfast every day with Aadya on his lap. I find it cute. As usual, she keeps staring at his moving hand and mouth, tries to grab his plate, kicks the table and blabbers "ga gaaa... ba ba baaaa..."
8.15 am : Aravind has gone to office, it has not effected Aadya. I leave her with her toys again and go to the bathroom. She cries as loud as possible till I come back. I prepare some formula for her as she continues to cry even louder after seeing me out from the bathroom.
8.30 am : Aadya is done drinking her formula being fussy. She has just started tasting formula since yesterday, she does not like it, but has no other option than drinking it. After formula, I feed her milk. I go to kitchen to keep the bottle in the sink and to get my breakfast. She cries once again till I come back. I sit next to her and eat. She keeps 'talking' to me.
9.00 am : Jogibettu ajji is online. They are eager to see the little lady and to talk to her. But after seeing them Aadya becomes silent. She plays a little on her toys, stares at the people on the laptop now and then, if they are lucky enough, throws a few smiles at them and utters a few letters. Then becomes fussy and rubs her eyes. She is sleepy again.
9.30 am : Aadya is on my lap, I am trying to put her to sleep since last 10 minutes. She looked almost asleep and all of a sudden she stares at my face and smiles. I smile back. She says "ma ma maaa..." I tell her softly to go back to sleep. She says "eeeeEEEEE" voice becomes louder, she lifts her head from my lap and rolls over to the floor. Picks up her toys and starts playing. Where did her sleep go? Once again she looks all refreshed and in a playful mood. I stop bothering about her sleep, I join her in playing. I give her favourite music lantern and switch on the music.
10.00 am : I take her for bath and give her an oil massage. She plays with the mug and splashes water from her tub.
10.30 am : Aadya is done with her oil massage and warm bath. Done staring and playing with the baby in the mirror too. She loves that baby a lot! I apply baby powder on her and dress her up.
11.15 am : Baby is asleep after drinking milk and rocking her for half an hour. She had bit me really hard while feeding her. I slowly lie down next to her.
12.10 pm : Aadya is crying with her eyes closed. I rock her again for 10 minutes until she is sleeping again. I go to the living room and check my emails and facebook.
1.00 pm : I heat my lunch and eat. Aadya once again cries from inside. I quickly wash my hand and run to the bedroom, feed her and rock her again to sleep.
1.10 pm : Baby is asleep again and I continue eating my lunch. It tastes really bad for me and I force myself to empty the plate.
1.24 pm : I try to watch some just for laugh videos and I hear her cooing from inside. She is totally up and smiling. I bring her to the living room and cuddle with her a little. She enjoys it and of course so do I. I get a few bites and some saliva on my right cheek which I call Aadya's kisses. She kicks me vigorously with love, smiles continuously. I try to scare her and she finds it funny and laughs aloud!
3.30 pm : Both Aadya and I are tired of playing for two hours. She has eaten a little banana and a bottle formula in between. Has bit me again while feeding. I have changed her diaper once. I have got at least 100 slaps and kicks in the playtime. She has laughed, smiled, blabbered, screamed, talked, cried, pinched me, fallen down a few times, tried to crawl, pulled some wires, got threatened by mom, got serious looks from mom, done naughty things, roamed all over the room, banged her head to the wall, got herself tired and made me feel tired too! She is just 6 months old and she can do so much already! I am proud of this funny kid!
3.45 pm : Aadya is fussy and sleepy. I put her to sleep.
4.15 pm : She is crying with her eyes closed. I rock her little cradle chair.
4.50 pm : Baby is up refreshed and ready for play once again. Where does she get so much energy from?
5.30 pm : We stand in the balcony waiting for dad. She stares at every car that comes and goes. And also at the people who get down from it.
5.45 pm : She is quite heavy to keep carrying. We have gone inside the house and come out 2 times. I see her dad's black car through the window. I pick her up again and go to the balcony. She looks at the car and at her dad getting down from it. Dad notices us on the balcony, but she does not recognize him from that far. He comes right below us and makes sounds to get her attention and she finally recognizes and smiles at him. He comes upstairs and we open the door for him. Now she becomes all excited, kicks her legs in the air and says "ba ba ba baaa" with a huge smile on hr face.
6.15 pm : She is on her dad's lap. Dad is trying to read some mails and papers, Aadya is hardly letting him do so. She wants all those papers her dad picks up. The plain paper given for her to play with doesn't look interesting. She has watched her dad carefully from the time he has arrived till now. From him getting inside house to washing his face, hands and legs, changing his clothes, drinking juice, eating snacks.
6.30 pm : Dad and daughter have played for sometime and now they are ready for a walk. I wash all the vessels lying in the sink since morning and join them on their third round. We meet some friends and talk to them for 15 minutes. They try to talk to Aadya and she has decided not to even smile at them.
7.15 pm : I prepare 'manni' for Aadya. One person is not enough to make her eat. Dad sees that she doesn't put her hands or toes in her mouth and holds her attention while I feed her with spoon.
7.30 pm : I cook dinner.
8.15 pm : Dinner is ready. Aravind eats his dinner while I give her a bottle of formula.
8.30 pm : Dad tries to put Aadya to sleep while I eat my dinner.
9.00 pm : Aadya is still up crying for her mom. I put her to sleep while her dad sits with his laptop.
9.30 pm : Baby is asleep. I wash vessels and then go for a quick shower.
10.00 pm : I have kept things ready for tomorrow's breakfast and lunch preparation. Arranged a few scattered things and kept toys on its place. And going to sleep.
10.30 pm : Aadya is up crying. I feed her. Milk is not sufficient. I try to give her formula and she hits the bottle and throws it away. Cries refusing the formula and dozes back to sleep.
12.00 am : She is up hungry. I feed her, no enough milk, but she goes back to sleep for the time being.
12.50 am : Aadya is hungry, I feed her, she sleeps.
2.05 am : She cries, I try to rock her back to sleep. But she is hungry, I feed her and she is off to sleep.
2.10 am : Aadya is up again, I put her in the rocker and she falls asleep. I stop rocking and she is up again.
2.35 am : I am still rocking and tired. I wake her dad up to rock.
2.48 am : I try to give formula, she cries aloud refusing it. Her dad goes back to sleep. I feed her milk and she sleeps.
4.10 am : She is hungry, I feed her, she falls asleep.
4.40 am : Mere rocking doesn't work, I feed her, she sleeps.
5.45 am : Aadya is up again and hungry, I feed her.
